Laborers at CABE 2025At this year’s CABE Conference, LIUNA - Southern California District Council of Laborers - proudly joined as a Platinum Sponsor to bring forward the Laborers LEARN program, powered by LIUNA Training.Our LEARN program that we’ve established at Palmdale Academy Charter School, delivers Career and Technical Education (CTE) that integrates STEM subjects through a construction-based approach, giving students REAL pathways to Union careers right out of high school.We were there to share that vision with educators and district leaders committed to expanding opportunity for bilingual and multicultural students.The LIUNA booth featured voices from across labor and education—including Dr. Raul Maldonado, CABE President and Superintendent of Palmdale School District, Ralph Velador, Coordinator of LIUNA PSWROC and Palmdale School District Board Member, Jayson Baiz and Jose Radillo of LIUNA PSWROC, Walter Robinson of LIUNA Pacific Southwest Region, and Estela Penney, Administrator of LECET Southwest. A presentation from Bernadette Oliveira-Rivera of the LIUNA Training and Education Fund underscored the union’s national commitment to building futures.The Palmdale Academy Charter mariachis opened the event at the LIUNA booth, setting the tone for a conference filled with culture, community, and connection.LEARN shows what’s possible when labor and education work together.
