LIUNA at the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach - SCDCL - Local 1309 - CA State Council of Laborers

LIUNA, the California State Council of Laborers, SCDCL, and Local 1309 continued their long-standing involvement as main sponsors of the Acura Grand Prix, with Local 1309 helping build and break down the track. Labor and political leaders came together to celebrate union strength, including a special moment where Jim Michaelian, President & CEO of the Grand Prix Association, was honored with a California State Legislature resolution. SCDCL Business Manager Jon P. Preciado represented LIUNA in the Winner’s Circle, while our organizers and the Laborers Training School connected with the public inside the exhibition hall—showcasing the career pathways LIUNA continues to build.

Record-Breaking Support at the 10th Annual SCDCL Sporting Clays Shoot

SCDCL’s 10th Annual Sporting Clays Shoot raised over $460,000 for the Mike Quevedo Sr. Scholarship Fund, supporting the children of Southern California Laborers. With over $400,000 in sponsorships, more than $28,000 from raffle participation, and an additional $5,000 from a surprise live auction, the event marked our biggest year yet—showing the power of solidarity, generosity, and a shared commitment to building opportunity through education.

Laborers Rise to Support Kingdom Culture’s Community Center

SCDCL and Laborers Local 783 joined Pastor BJ Sims and Kingdom Culture San Bernardino to support a demolition project that will help expand a vital community center serving over 300 families. This partnership reflects the Laborers’ deep commitment to uplifting communities and supporting those working every day to make a difference.
