As main sponsors of the event, LIUNA, the California State Council of Laborers, SCDCL, and Local 1309 made their presence known all around the track—continuing a legacy of involvement that Local 1309 has upheld for generations as a proud and reliable cornerstone of the Long Beach Grand Prix including building and breaking down the track itself.
The California State Council of Laborers—including Executive Director Joe Cruz, Chairman and NCDCL Business Manager Oscar De La Torre, and Treasurer and SCDCL Business Manager Jon P. Preciado—proudly hosted California Representatives and Leaders.
A special moment came when Jim Michaelian, President & CEO of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach was presented with a California State Legislature resolution recognizing his leadership and contributions to motorsports and the Long Beach community.Local 1309 hosted a fantastic gathering with food, family, and friends, as well as bringing together union leadership, political allies, and industry partners in a true celebration of the strength of the Laborers.
In a proud moment, SCDCL Business Manager Jon P. Preciado had the honor of representing LIUNA and the Laborers in the Winner’s Circle by presenting one of the Acura Grand Prix’s trophies.
Inside the exhibition hall, our organizers and the Laborers Training School were also busy doing what we do best—outreaching to the community and building awareness about the career pathways and opportunities LIUNA provides.LIUNA isn’t just part of the action—we help build it!
